Superior Plants Direct From Our
Greenhouses To Your Home
Positioning
Plants:
Flowers used in a garden area
brighten up any home. You do not
have to plant a big garden to
enjoy beautiful flowers all
season long. Accent a focal spot
such as around a lamp post or
bird bath. Decorate around the
deck or patio with a border of
color. Plant up a bare spot or
problem area to polish your
surroundings.
Potting Plants:
For healthier plants and more
blooms, we recommend replacing
the soil in your containers
every year. Plants use the
nutrients in the soil to grow,
and watering washes the
nutrients out of the containers.
Use a commercial potting soil in
your containers-not top soil.
Top soil is too heavy to permit
adequate drainage in containers
(garden beds must be fertilized
every year for the same
reasons).
Selecting Plants:
Every flower has its place, but
when you want blooms and
continuous color from planting
until frost, you want annuals.
Annuals make a bold, consistent
look enjoyed throughout the
season. Perennials grow back
year after year but bloom for a
short period of time and do
require regular maintenance.
The varieties we have selected
are easy to grow. But different
plants like different growing
conditions. When choosing your
plants, think about where you
would like to put them.
Different plants prefer
different conditions. Please
refer to the sun symbols listed
by each plant. All of the plants
we carry can be grown across the
country, but some do better in
specific areas than others. All
plants are considered annuals
but may last year round in areas
with no frost. Complete growing
information will be included
with your order.
Preparing Flower Beds:
For flower beds, a little
preparation before planting will
greatly improve plant growth.
Prepare your soil bed before
planting by digging it up and
turning over the soil in your
bed to at least 10" deep. This
fluffs up the soil making it
easier for the roots to grow
into it.
