SHIPPING &
HANDLING INFORMATION
PACKAGING IS CRITICAL:
The packaging and shipping of
our plants is a critical part of
the entire process. We have
developed our own custom boxes
and inserts to carefully cradle
each plant on its journey. The
plants are first put into a
plastic bag that helps retain
the plants moisture and prevents
it from leaking or spilling soil
into the boxes. Then the plants
are securely loaded into our
packaging inserts and then into
the shipping box. Each shipping
box will hold a maximum of 12
plants. No more than four
shipping boxes or 48 plants can
be shipped in any one shipment.
Customer’s orders over 48 plants
are divided into multiple
shipments so the size of the
packaging is not too large.
WE SHIP USING UPS:
After packaging, plants are
shipped across the country using
UPS (United Parcel Services) for
shipping. Please remember we
are shipping live plants, not
seeds or bare roots. Live
plants can not travel for more
than 3 days. Plants that UPS
can be delivered in within three
days or less will be shipped UPS
Ground. Orders that take UPS
more than three days to deliver
will be shipped UPS 3-Day
Select. All orders will be
delivered to your door. We can
not deliver to Post Office
Boxes. You do not need to sign
for them.
SHIPPING SCHEDULE:
Orders are shipped every week
from the middle of March until
the second week in June,
dependent upon weather
conditions. Since UPS does not
heat their trucks or guarantee
the plants from freezing we can
not ship at times if the
temperatures dip below 32
degrees or freezing. Conversely
if the weather is too hot the
plants will spoil quickly
wrapped up in their plastic
sleeves and cardboard boxes. If
you order is delayed due to
unusually cold or warm
conditions we will ship your
order as soon as the weather
permits.
GARDEN ZONES:
Your order will be shipped at
the proper planting time for
your area according to the
garden zone you are in.
If you do not indicate which
garden zone you are in our
horticultural staff will
determine the correct zone.
Plants are shipped on Mondays,
Tuesdays, and Wednesdays of each
week so they arrive on Thursday
or Friday of that same week. We
only ship at the beginning of
the week to ensure that the
plants are delivered by the end
of the same week and not left on
their trucks or in their
warehouses over the weekend. If
necessary to meet our delivery
schedule, we may ship the plants
FED EX Ground and have the
plants delivered on a Saturday.
We are unable to specify exactly
which week each order will be
filled or exactly what day UPS
will deliver the plants.
If you wish to have your order
delivered before your garden
zone time you may request that.
If an order is sent out earlier
than scheduled Mischel’s
Greenhouses Ltd. will not be
responsible for freezing damage
to the plants either in shipment
or at your location. You may
also request to have your order
shipped later than your time
zone but again due to the heat
Mischel’s Greenhouses Ltd. we
not be responsible for the
plants after they leave our
greenhouses.

Plants can be shipped earlier
than your garden zone but due to
the possible problem of freezing
in-route or after you receive
your plants we will not be held
responsible for freeze damage to
plants that are shipped early
either in transit to you or
after delivery. Please note that
plants are perishable and
weather conditions in Michigan
may delay shipping. Normal
shipping starts in mid-March and
continues through the first week
or two of June.

requires us to ship via air to
